This book is fabulous! I didn't pay attention to the size of the book and it's quite large. About the size of a spiral notebook but thicker and sturdier. That's perfectly fine with me but just keep that in mind. These activities are great. The graphics are fun and are great for boy or girl. I can't wait for my daughter to use this book.

I purchased this to help my 9 year old transition from Children's Church into "adult" church. For the most part, I'm very pleased with the book. There are three pages per week, with several different activities that help kids engage in the church service. My daughter has been using the book for a month now and she is still excited about using it. The activities are the same from one week to the next, so I'm curious whether her enthusiasm will dwindle later on. Activities include a checklist for such things as "I said a prayer when I got up this morning, I brought my Bible to church, etc."; a section with commonly heard words (Jesus, God, etc.) that you can mark off when you hear in the sermon; a section to jot down words or ideas that you didn't understand; a section for "I will pray for _____"; a section for favorite song sung during the service; and so forth. There are a few things that I think would make the book better, and would make it a definite five-star purchase:1.) I wish there was a bit more space for actual sermon notes, but I've encouraged my daughter to just use any free white space to jot down her notes.2.) We are still working on the whole concept of HOW to take notes, so it might actually be nice for this book to include a few pointers in the front of the book to help get kids started.3.) I'd like to see an "application" section each week. Something to the effect of, "What does this lesson mean for ME?" to really get kids thinking about how they can apply the lesson to their day at school, while playing with friends, while interacting with their family, and so on. Obviously this is also something that we can do on our own, independent of the workbook, but I know my daughter especially is one who likes doing activities in a book far better than she likes doing abstract work that her Mom came up with. ;)If any others who have purchased this book have recommendations on how to expand its usefulness, I'd love to hear your suggestions!!

I haven't actually given this yo my 8 and 10 year old boys yet, but I received it today and was checking it out. I guess I didn't see the inside well before purchasing...the sermon notes section is a VERY small section-maybe 3x5 9or slightly larger but with only 3-4 short lines to write on. I expect a little more from my 8 year old, and definitely more for the 10year old. I like that it has another (small) section on a different page for question/things not understood, but some of the other sections seem more appropriate for a 6-8 year old. (A checklist for points for bringing your Bible/brushing your teeth/praying(I like that one!) in the morning but it takes up a large portion of the page. There is also a large area taken by checking off different "church words" that you hear-again, not bad, but possibly more appropriate for a younger audience. Honestly, I probably wouldn't really mind these as much if there was a larger sermon note area-like a half page, instead of the larger portion of the book being taken by "younger" activities. I do like the "doodle" area, because many kids listen well while doodling. FYI, the book is large-probably 8 1/2 x 11 size.

My grandchildren used these books yesterday for the first time and LOVE THEM!! Their mom was happy they were more quiet and less wiggly. Their father, the Pastor, was super impressed with this book!! Love the content. The kids are excite to earn points and really connected with the prayer list section! Thank you for this book!!

I bought four of these for children in my Sunday school class and they LOVE them! I looked over the notes of one of the children on Sunday and they really did have a good grasp of the sermon and I give credit to this book for that. I only hope they keep it up. And by the way, all of the parents were positive about the book as well. Good job by the writers. Also, the illustrations are very cute.

What a great idea! My son is really enjoying these as the "earning points" idea appeals to his competitive spirit and this encourages him to pay attention during the services and also gives space for his doodles and thoughts. The only change I would make would be to have this a spiral binding instead of the current binding.

What a fabulous idea. We really enjoy our books and we have received so many compliments from others at church. I would say this is good up to age 10/11, depending on how strong of writer or reader you have. There is small space for notes, so if you want to encourage more note taking then I would say go for the book for young ladies. This book also has space for drawing, a word list to keep the children focused during the sermon as they try and listen for certain words. A list that reminds you to read your bible during the week, pray, come to church withe right attitude. A space to write the scripture for that day's sermon. As well as your favorite worship song that was sung during church. There is also a section to write prayers. If your children sit in adult service, this is a great tool to have with you. It keeps them engaged, keeps them busy, and teaches them to start taking notes, as well as providing something to take home and study during the week.

My daughter and I have both enjoyed her use of this journal. It gives us an easy way to get into discussing the sermon and what each family member took away from it. She has even brought it into the restaurant with her, of her own choice, to discuss while we wait for our Sunday lunch to be brought to the table. I find this a very valuable tool so as not to hear the sermon and then leave it at the church doors. It is a visual reminder in a time of hurried life to stop and really discuss and learn what the sermon is teaching.
