I didn't like the format of this book. It was not what I was looking for. I expected a collection of scary stories. Instead, the book was a travel guide book. There were some ghost stories mixed in, and unfortunately many were lame or weak, but mostly it was about historic inns, restaurants, breweries, parks, etc. with directions and contact info. The story about Champ didn't seem to fit in either. It isn't a ghost or a haunting. I don't intend to actually visit any of these places. I just wanted to read a scary book on a cold autumn evening.
Ghost stories are fun which is why so many of us enjoy reading them. All this book consists of is historical tales two and three times told. There is nothing interesting or new in any of it. Most of the stuff if listed almost verbatim from the New England Ghost files. Please do yourself a favor and read that or Passing Strange as they are much more fun.
Had some interesting information as far as historic details of the various areas.Cleverly interwoven with the paranormal activity associated with those locals.
This is a very interesting book about the paranormal. It has some very interesting stories. I highly suggest you buy this book if you are going to visit the New England states. It also contains an interesting story about the House of the Seven Gables.
Great book and I'm so glad to be able to purchase this! Now I can go through and plan my next year's Halloween adventures, if I'm daring enough!

I am a New Englander and like haunted stories about the place. I liked the book. It was easy reading.
A very good read that was checked out of my local library. A pretty good guide to some widely scattered ghost stories. Best to check with local "ghost tour" operators at any given location. Enjoyed this as a casual read.
