We have been considering keeping a few chickens to provide us with fresh eggs, but need to learn about taking care of them, How nice to find everything we wanted to know right here! Needs just a little editing for some typos, and it would be nice if the pictures downloaded, but great info nonetheless.
The poor editing made it a rough read. The disjointed subject material was challenging and the topics were not covered as well as could be. I would not recommend this book as it is confusing and a new chicken owner would not get enough of the needed information.
I had gotten 5 baby hens, and HAD no CLUE what I was doing, this book was a great little source to be able to pick up and read in one sitting and found out ALL sorts of information!
I bought several books on this subject before we got chickens. This books was very helpful in choosing/identifying what chickens to raise and gave some helpful hints.
Lots of information. I have a Kindle Fire and no pictures came through Would be much better with pictures so I could see more clearly what they meant.
Good for beginners. Like you've never, ever owned poultry. Some oft repeated things that aren't quite right, but is a place to start.
The book is very thorough in identifying and describing different chickens and their laying habits, have not finished all of the book but so far the book covers everything.
It was free when I grabbed it, so I can't complain. It is a small b/w booklet with good information, no photos. For free, it was OK.
